Filament Welder E01 - Manual type. Cheapest but powerful!

This welder has no heater, sensor, temperature controller and a power supply. It has very simple structure so, it is very cheap but it's fully functional!
You can connect filaments using two gas lighters which you can find near by you. It also has a gap to check a thickness of a welded junction point.
An automatic temperature controlled welder is also good and convenience but it'll be expensive than this manual welder E01.
Most of normal individual 3D printer users might use less than 5kg of filament per year.In case of that, the users will use the filament welder within 10 times per year.
So a cheaper welder is better than a expensive welder.

How to connect filament using a manual welder

Step 1. Preparation : a wire nipper, a cutter knife, gloves, two gas lighters(or one gas pencil torch), a cup of water, tissues

Step 2. Insert a short(about 3cm(half inch)) filament(a sensor filament which is same filament as you want to connect) into a sensing hole.
Insert an end of a filament into the welder hole depth about 2/3 and close the welder.

Step 3. Place an end of the another filament to a center of a heating road and pick a filament at right near by a side wall of a PTFE plastic using a thumbnail.

Step 4. Push the filament until your thumbnail touch the wall of the PTFE block. This will push the filament is inserted first and two end of filaments will be placed to a center of the heating rod. Never move the welder from this step.

Step 5. Heat the heating road using two gas lighters turn and turn.
Do not heat over 30 seconds per one lighter. It would be over heated.
Do not use too heavy fire source like a industrial gas torch. A PTFE block might be damaged.
You may use gas lighters, pencil torches.

Step 6. The sensor filament will be melting. Stop heating just before the sensor filament is boiling and wait 10secs for cooling.

Step 7. Repeat heating the rod until a sensor filament is melted completely and wait 10secs for cooling during 3~4 mins.

Step 8. Keep holding tight the welder and insert one side filament slowly about 5mm long. The other side filament will be extracted.

Step 9. Get tissue wet and cover the rod with the wet tissue. Wait for it to cool. It takes about 3~4 minutes for PLA, about1~2 minutes for ABS. Be careful. It's hot!
You have to be careful not to move the welder heavily when you cool down the heating rod. A filament connecting joint would be damaged(twisted or disconnected) if you move the welder heavily.

Step 10. Take out the welded filaments from the welder and carve the filaments connecting point by knife. Ware gloves to prevent getting a cut.
Put the filament connecting point through a gap(located at the end of the heating rod) that is prepared to check a filament welded point thickness.
Carve the filament connecting point until it go through the gap smoothly.

Step 11. Done.
